Keene Travel Guide
Welcome to Keene!
Located in the heart of New England, Keene has been recognized by the National Trust for Historic Preservation as one of the most distinctive travel destinations in the United States. With many buildings in town dating back two hundred years, history is the main attractions in the area. One such attraction is the Horatio Colony House Museum, which contains the art collection of Horatio Colony, a world traveler, art connoisseur and grandson of Keene's first mayor. Ashuelot River Park is another attraction within the city, offering pathways for walking and biking along the river basin. Keene is also home to Keene State College, a liberal arts institution that provides bachelor and associate degrees. Visitors also appreciate shopping venues such as the Colony Mill Market Place, an outdoor mall with two restaurants and a variety of stores. With several courses in the area, golfers have plenty of options.
